Before this was the Yachats Inn, it was The Paddock Motel. The original owners, the Garrisons, built it in 1949 for $120,000. Despite its name, no one believes any horses were associated with the hotel.
Some old timers say Mr. Garrison died in a hunting accident. He leaned his gun against a fencepost, and while climbing through the fence, the gun went off and killed him.
Katy and Paul Plunk bought the Yachats Inn in the late 1980s.
